This is a recently completed historical restoration project performed on a 1913 Craftsman style home in South Park, San Diego. Our clients were dedicated to the historical restoration of the property, and hired us to restore the original woodworking in the home. While much of the original character of the home was preserved, we were also tasked in expertly recreating and refinishing several areas, which could not be effectively restored. We performed the stripping of the existing paint and finishes, as well as removing all previously applied finishes to restore the wood to its natural appearance. Some custom carpentry millwork was required to match the details in the home, and many of the once operable windows and doors required repairs to restore their functionality. Careful attention to detail was required throughout the entire process, as to not damage the century old woodworking, windows, cabinetry, and doors.
During the historical restoration process, safe removal of the existing finishes and site safety were the top priority. We take the time to make sure workers’ safety, and your property are always protected. We practice safe building methods, and spend the extra time on site protection others may skip over. With over 10 years of experience in custom building and remodeling, we know that a successful project requires an attention to detail long before the work actually begins. This involved careful removal of hardware and fixtures, as well as disassembly in certain areas to expedite our restoration process. We provided additional site protection to ensure proper cleanup and disposal of any debris generated. After our restoration, sanding, and refinishing was complete, all affected items were reinstalled to their original locations. We pride ourselves in ensuring careful planning and consideration for all finishes and trades involved throughout the project.
